Doggie News: Do Dogs Really Need Face-lift, Liposuction, and Viagra?
I probably won’t flinch that much if you’d told me that your dog had gone for a cosmetic surgery to correct his Ectropion or Entropion (eversion or inversion of the eyelids) problem but these…
make protruding ears droop and uses Metacril to straighten bent ears… tightened the mammillae of a couple of female dogs, whose owners wanted to show them after they had given birth. Source here.
Although I’m not in favor of canine cosmetic surgery, however if it’s done to improve health and physical ease for the dog I’m willing to spend. But for vanity issue???
According to Dr Edgard Brito, “It’s perfectly reasonable to use simple surgery to make a dog beautiful. There’s nothing unethical about that.” Source here.
Hmmm….Whose self-esteem are we talking about? The dog or the owner?
In a fast pace society, everyone wants quick fix solutions especially to weight loss. Understandable—not at all the best solution in my own opinion! As in this case here, the owner chose the easy route to get rid of the excess pounds that Pumpkin had been carrying over X years.
A Chihuahua named Pumpkin lost about 12 ounces – via liposuction. On a recent visit to Boca Greens Animal Hospital in Boca Raton, Fla., Pumpkin was doing well and down from 12.1 pounds to 11.4 pounds, which still puts the small dog among the ranks of America’s obese pets (more than 20 percent over their target weight). According to the Chihuahua Club of America, Chihuahuas shouldn’t exceed 6 pounds. Source here.
Hmmm….The objective of this quick fix solution is to serve the dog or the owner?
From vanity to obsession for quick fit to greed. Here we have a Chinese stud dog who was fed Viagra so that he could mate three females dogs on one single day for a fee ($128 per breeding session). Unfortunately, the poor dog couldn’t handle the strenuous mating and was admitted to hospital for an intravenous drip. Source here.
Hmmm….Changing of occupation? From a dog breeder to a dog pimp!
Have a great weekend!

I think this is all a very expensive means to dog cruelty.

I find it deeply disturbing and disgusting that anyone would give their pets liposuction, comestic surgery or pet viagara since they are obviously projecting their own insecurities on your pets. Pets only have control over how much they eat by how much you feed them. If you want them to lose weight feed them less but do it gradually and without harm. Cosmestic surgery should only be considered for health concerns and viagara do we even need to go there? If our pets love us unconditionally just the way we are why can’t we love our pets in the same way?
