Bite News: Have you Reunited with your Dog yet?

Dog NewsIt has been a year since Katrina hit New Orleans, and there are still many dogs yet to reunite with their owners. Full story here.

It sickened me so much to hear those dogs that once had comfortable homes to live in, are now eagerly waiting in temporary animal shelter for their owners.

“About 16,000 pets were rescued and shipped to shelters across the country. Only 15 to 20 percent were eventually reunited with their owners. A lack of proper identification and technology to handle such a huge project slowed the reunion process, as did the time it took evacuees to find suitable housing.”

While some owners are suing aid agencies because new pet owners refused to return the dog to their rightful owners, others just totally gave up of retrieving their once best friend, stating their stress and living condition don’t justify the situation.

I know it’s not fair for me to comment the latter group of pet owners doing; however it just makes me so “mad” to see these pet owners weak determination in retrieving their best friends.

I do wonder if they ever reflect those wonderful times they had with their dogs. Would the fate of these dogs be different?

I’d love to hear your view on this.

Not everyone is that emotionally attached to their dogs or pets in general. That’s the reality you have to learn to get use to, my dear Renee!
