Miniature Pinscher

Minitura PinscherThe delightful Miniature Pinscher is not, as many suppose, a bred-down version of the Doberman.

Origin: It is a much older breed, a descendant of the German Smooth-haired Pinscher to which the Dachshund and Italian Greyhound probably contributed. Incidentally, Miniature Pinscher received pure-bred status in 1895 from the German Pinscher Club.

Miniature Pinscher a high-spirited little dog is sturdy and a natural showman. It is very athletic and able to out-jump dogs far bigger than itself. It’s known that Miniature Pinscher has got a mind of its own, like most small dog breeds do, is likely to yap if unchecked. Due to its attractiveness, most owners let their Miniature Pinschers get away with murder.

Temperament: Extremely loyal and affectionate with its family. It has a fearless and self possessed attitude. Intelligent and easy to look after.

Grooming: Daily brush and rub down with a chamois leather.

Exercise: Suitable for town and country and will adapt to its owner’s needs.

Training: Can be trained easily and almost anything including guarding, tracking and retrieving.

Physical appearance of the Miniature Pinscher

Head: Long, with clean lines and a blunt, wedge-shaped profile.

Ears: Large and erect

Eyes: Dark colored. Almond-shaped with a keen expression.

Muzzle: Narrow tapering.

Body: Square in profile with a short, firm back and tucked-up belly.

Coat: Maybe black, blue chocolate with sharply defined tan markings or solid red. Preferably dark brown in black dogs. Short, smooth and hard to the touch.

Tail: Continuing smoothly from the spine. Docked at the first or second joint.

Legs: Powerful hindquarters.

Height: 25 to 30 cm / 10 to 12 in

Weight: 4 to 5 kg / 8 to 10 lb
