Jumpstart your Dog’s Day with Veggie Muffins

Not only I love muffins (my favourite is blueberry muffin), my dogs crave for them too. And because I’m a health conscious gal, my dogs get the best of both worlds – tasty and healthy homemade dog treats. So get your apron ready and we’re going to bake delicious veggie muffins. Oh don’t forget to have a bib for your dog while you prepare this recipe.

Servings: 12 Veggie Muffins

Ingredients:

  • 480 ml (2 cups) shredded carrots
  • 1 shredded apple
  • 100 ml (1/3 cup) molasses
  • 250 ml (1 cup) bran
  • 60 ml (1/4 cup) water
  • 200 ml (3/4 cup) whole grain flour
  • 60 ml (1/4 cup) dry oatmeal

Methods:

  1. Combine all ingredients thoroughly. If the consistency is too liquidy, add more flour or oatmeal until the mixture becomes doughy.
  2. Spoon into muffin tins (lined or unlined) and bake for 30 minutes at 200ºC (400ºF) or until browned.

Bite Tips: Most of the prep time in this recipe comes from shredding the carrots and apple. A lot of grocery stores now sell pre-packaged shredded fruits and vegetables, so check your produce section to cut some time out of this otherwise simple recipe.
