Dog Treats: Mock Milk Bone Recipe

Mock Milk BoneYou probably heard this cliche many times – oldies but goodies. This is certainly true with this classic dog treats recipe – Mock Milk Bones. A little treat goes a long way!

Servings: 3 dozen Mock Milk Bones

Ingredients:

  • 175 (¾ c) hot water
  • 80 ml (1/3 c) butter
  • 150 ml (1/2 cup) dry milk
  • 5 ml (1 t) salt
  • 1 egg, lightly beaten
  • 710 ml (3 c) whole wheat flour

Methods:

  1. Pour hot water over butter, then slowly stir in milk, salt, and egg.
  2. Add flour 150 ml (1/2 cup) at a time until combined, then knead for 5 minutes or until a stiff dough is formed.
  3. Roll to ½” thickness and cut into desired shapes or sizes.
  4. Bake at 160º (325º F) for 50 minutes.
  5. Cool overnight.

Bite Tips: Egg substitute can be used to lighten this recipe if you dog just can’t give up his dog treats.

Hi, I made your milk bone biscuit recipe and my dog loves them. They are not hard and crunchy like milk bones. Is this normal? thank you.
