The Coolest Dog Party Themes
Searching for the best dog party themes can be very challenging! Usually it is the theme that makes the best reason for having a party. The most common ones would be a birthday party. Once a theme is picked, ideas for invitations, food, cakes, decorations, and fancy dress will fall into place quite easily.
9 great dog party themes for making your parties spectacular.
- A Birthday. Yours or your dog’s. Ideally his, as all attention focus on him which only comes once in every 365 days. Of course yours too, but he doesn’t get that many opportunities as compare to you. Some people just don’t invite dogs for their own parties. What a party pooper! Anyway, blow up huge photos of your dog and your less charming face alongside with him in different locations and occasions, and showcase them on walls. And when guests come, you can brag shamelessly by saying, “Oh this one is when we were skating at….” Or “That one there was Fivor’s first …..” I think you get the picture?
- An Anniversary. His not yours. His 1st anniversary in your family. Make a little “About my dog certificate” with your pooch’s name, breed (don’t have one, make one up!), age and place you bought/adopted him from, and send it as part of an invitation card.
- Movie Fanatics. Most likely this is going to be fun and can be quite challenging for both mommies/daddies and dogs. It also depends on the number of guests invited into your home. Basically, gather a pool of friends to watch any movie (rented videos) and have popcorn while watching. Of course, it would be great if you have a home theater system. Don’t have one, then create the atomphere! This can really give your dog a chance to experience what’s it like being in a “cinema” having his own chair. In addition, you can have a theme movie custome party too. For example, if you’re have a StarWars or Harry Potter or LOTR movie night, dress to match the theme. And for those die-hard football or baseball fans, dress yourself and your dog in your favorite team outfit. Also create the atmosphere of a “stadium” where you serve hotdogs. I like this theme the most as dogs will never have a chance to experience them in the real world. Humans (business operators) just have too many restrictions for dogs!
- Any Festival Day. Human festival seasons of course. Christmas, Halloween, Children’s Day, your country’s birthday and so on. You can have little flag hung on his kennel and place some smaller ones along your house’s pavement making a path to the party. Wear collars according to the national color code. And on Christmas, all dogs can wear Santa hats and opening present along the Christmas tree. One of the coolest dog party themes will have to be St. Francis’ Day. You don’t know that one? Well, it’s the day where dogs get to go to church and have holy water bless on them.
- School-term-end Celebration. This will be great if you’ve children party along with him too. Get the children to write which subject they least like and the reason. Crumple them and have all dogs carry it by mouth to a waiting basket. If they drop right into the basket, the dog gets a treat. Isn’t that fun? A stress reliever for the kids and coordination exercise for the dogs.
- Costume Party. Any costume will do. It can be Spiderman, Power puff girls, cowboys and etc. The rule is that both mommy or daddy (can be your children too) and dogs have to dress as pairs.
The best pair wins! Or you can raise the bar a little, the best look-a-like (in addition to facial or physical appearance) pair wins!
BTW, do keep a look out for my special Halloween Party Themes. This one deserves one full post on its own! - Pool Party. Don’t have a real private pool? Don’t worry. Just get those children inflatable pool. Do make sure all dogs have their pedicures done the day before the party. You certainly don’t want a puncture “pool”. The faster swimmer, not you, your dog; is the winner. And in inflatable pool, see how long your dog can thread water. Alternative, you can opt for water sprinkler party. Lawn sprinkler is the most fun. The owners with his leashed dogs have to walk around the sprinkler avoiding being splashed on.
- Welcome Party. For new dog or new neighbor on the block. How can this not be one of the coolest dog party themes? It’s a great way to make newcomers feel welcome, as well as meeting new friends and dogs too. Get ready dog tags to distribute when your guests arrived. It’d be very cool to get a list of your guest and your doggie guests’ names and inscribe onto the tags before the party. Yes, mommy and/or daddy have to wear the collar tags too. You can use ribbons to replace the regular dog collars and make it longer as it appears more of a medal than a choker. Some people can be a little shy to party all the way.
- Wedding Party. This has to be the most emotional and coolest party of the lot. Do I need go lengthy on how to plan this party well or select the best wedding costume? I believe all mommies and daddies have more of this party than us pooches. I’ve no doubt that you’ll be a better expert than I am.
