Do not give up!, you can place your shitzu’s face between your bubs wile you tie the knot.
Give three loops and that’s enough to keep it in place.

I finally had to give up with my shih tzu. I work at a vet school/teaching hospital and spoke with my behaviorist there about desensitizing my dog to wearing a topknot but nothing worked (even with dedication). I just keep the hair short in that area now.

I have an 8 month shih tzu. She does not sit still long enough to tie a topnot. When we do manage to get a topnot on her, she rips it out….no matter how loose we tie it. Any suggestions?

Hi Pat, According to FURminator, it does. Since Yorkies are single coated dogs, you can easily brush out shedding hair with any grooming comb or pin brush, if you do it regularly. Cutting pattern? Do you mean dog grooming books? One of my favorites is The Stone Guide to Dog Grooming for All Breeds. This is a little bit dated, nevertheless it still get the job done beautifully.

is the furminator good to use on yorkies? also where can i get the cutting pattern for the yorkie?
