Super Duper Puppy Pancakes

Homemade Dog Food RecipeOne of the easiest ways to get new puppies adjusted well into new homes is to think through their tummies! What I’m saying is to shower him with delicious food (but don’t over indulge) to ease his separation anxiety from his mom and littermates. I named this recipe “Super Duper Puppy Pancakes”, as you have the options to choose either one of the ingredients or use all four. But I’m not sure if peanut butter will go well with bacon because I’m not that adventurous when eating sweet and salty flavors together.

Servings: 8 pancakes

Ingredients:

  • Puppy Pancake batter
  • 1 cup (250 ml) carob chips; or
  • 1 cup (250 ml) shredded carrot; or
  • 1/2 cup (125 ml) bacon bits; or
  • 1 cup (250 ml) peanut butter

Methods:

  1. Prepare Puppy Pancake batter according to instructions but adding one of the above suggestions to the wet ingredients before combining.
  2. Cook as instructed, paying close attention to the color of the pancakes, carob is prone to scorch sooner than the batter.
  3. Allow to cool before serving. Don’t want to burn his tiny tongue and lips. =)

Special note: Use caution if adding a sauce after using carob, bacon, or peanut butter. High fat content can cause pancreatic issues in dogs. Tend toward the fruit or vegetable suggestions.
