Green Juice For Dogs
Whether your dog is on a BARF diet or commercial feed or home cooked meal, all dogs can benefit greatly from drinking green juice twice weekly.
I’m a firm advocate of juicing fruits and vegetables. Not only it is easy done in a short amount of time, it has many wonderful antioxidant properties. Just look at the ingredients I use in this recipe. It’s a salad in a cup!
You will notice I use a food processor instead of the juicer, that’s because I want it whole—together with the pulp—where the nutrients are. Most people will discard the pulp when they use a fruit juicer.
To get the full benefit, I suggest you opt for organic fruits and vegetables. If this is not the option you can offer, just remember to wash the fruit and vegetables thoroughly or shred the first layer of skin.
Serving: One cup of Green Juice
Ingredients:
- 3 carrots, shredded
- 4 large broccoli florets
- ½ green apple
- 1 tsp olive oil (extra virgin is the better option)
- 2 tsp bone meal
- 1 tsp spirulina
- ¼ cup unsweetened apple juice
Methods:
- First puree carrots in food processor.
- Then add all other ingredients and blend until smooth.
Special Note: It must be consumed within 20 minutes after it is prepared otherwise the juice will be oxygenized. If it’s too much for one dog, consider reducing the ingredients amount into half or a quarter.

Your recipes always sound like something that would be just as appropriate for humans as they are for dogs.

Almost, Rick!
When I try out new recipe for dogs and guests, I’m the first to taste it. If it doesn’t pass my taste buds, then it’s not yet good to serve.
Having said that, what I like may not be what they like. Given the opportunity, they would rather eat junk food.
