Fruity Sauce for Kibbles
Getting dogs, who have been on canned food for years, to switch to eating kibbles can be a challenging feat for many dog owners. What’s even more stressful than this is that many dog owners are forced to make the transition as quickly as possible due to the recent pet food recall. At the end of the first week after the news broke out, owners are fed up from coaxing their dog to eat the kibbles or the dogs are tired of begging for table scrape with no avail.
Important Note: For a piece of mind, it’s best to feed dry dog foods that aren’t manufactured by Menu Food even they aren’t recalled foods. More details of dog food that aren’t affected by the recall can be found here.
It doesn’t have to be a painful transition for you or for your dog. There are many ways to work around it and you can customize it to suit your and your dog’s lifestyle.
One of the fuss-free ways is to add some “spice” to his kibbles. And this technique alone has at least a dozen (not recipe) ways to do it. You could add gravy, shredded meat, diced fruits, sauce, veggie juice, pulp, and a whole lot more to his kibbles. There is no shortage to variety; you are only limited by your imagination.
Without further ado, I’m going to give you the recipe of fruity sauce to add to your dog’s kibbles. You could call it kibble topping recipe.
Serving: 6 to 10 meals depending on how generous you are with the topping.
Ingredients:
- 2 cups of unsweetened apple puree or applesauce
- 1 cup carrots, shredded
- ½ cup of steamed rice
- 1 cup spaghetti squash, cooked
- ¾ cup of fruit juice preferably apple juice without preservative.
- 2 tsp bone meal
Methods:
- Combine all ingredients thoroughly in food processor and blend until smooth.
- Store leftovers in Tupperware container in fridge or freezer.
Special note:
If you can’t find spaghetti squash, you can substitute any other form of squash. Keep in mind that the deeper the color, the richer the vitamin content.
You can bake, microware, steam or even slow cook your spaghetti squash. As long as it is thoroughly cooked, you are doing fine.

I feed my dogs kibbles supplemented with various nutrients. The first time I switched them to kibbles they thanked me for feeding them these tasteless boulders. My dogs can be quite sarcastic.
