Detox Program for Dogs: Garden Rice

Detox Program for DogsRice, as we all know is a stable diet for many asia countries. And being born with Chinese and Portuguese hertiage, I’ve a tendency to favor rice over dog bread. It’s not that bread isn’t good for dogs but rice is so much easier to cook, and not forgetting faster too. Also being a city dweller, my dogs don’t have the luxury to roam aimlessly around my 7 x 6 feet potted garden, so naturally I’ve to be watchful of what goes into their tiny bodies.

Here is a tasty and healthy dog recipe that your four legged friend will enjoy. Staying green and lean!
Garden Rice Servings: 6

Ingredients:

  • 2 scallions
  • 1 bunch broccoli about 1½ pounds.
  • 1 medium-size carrot about 2 ounces
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil (sunflower seed or olive oil)
  • ¾ cup converted long-grain rice
  • 1 can chicken broth

Methods:

  1. Cook rice use chicken broth instead of water.
  2. Rinse the scallion and cut off the roots and trim off the dark green ends. Cut crosswise into thin slices. Set aside.
  3. For the broccoli, cut off enough flowerets into ½ thumb lengthwise to measure 1 cup. Put in the mixing bowl.
  4. Peel the carrot skin and slice them into thin slice. Put together with the broccoli.
  5. Heat the pan with cooking oil and add the scallion slices. Cook for 2 minutes.
  6. Add in the broccoli and carrot stir fry for 2 minutes.
  7. Add in the rice and stir all ingredients well over low heat for 3–5 minutes.

Special note: You may use this recipe even your dog isn’t on detox program. Just dress up the rice with meat, poultry or fish.
